Precision Over Power
The inside-foot shot prioritizes accuracy over raw power. It is the most reliable technique for finishing one-on-one with the goalkeeper or placing the ball into corners.
How to Execute It
1. Plant foot
Place your non-kicking foot firmly beside the ball, pointing toward your target.
2. Foot angle
Open your kicking foot so the inside (flat part) faces the ball, similar to a pass but with more hip rotation.
3. Contact point
Strike through the middle-to-bottom of the ball with a locked ankle for a clean, placed shot.
4. Aim for placement
Pick a corner of the goal before you strike — placement beats power in most one-on-one situations.
Practice Drill
Place a ball at the penalty spot. Take 10 shots aiming alternately for the left and right corners, focusing on placement rather than power. Track your success rate.
Common Mistakes
- Rushing the shot — slow down and pick your target
- Looking up too early — keep your eyes on the ball through contact
- Trying to add power — this technique is about control, not force
Most goals scored in tight spaces use this technique — practice it until placement becomes automatic.
